Curriculum

Classes are offered to students from 2 ½ years of age to adulthood. The 2011-2012 season begins the week of Aug 15th, 2011.

Age levels are used as a guide for placing students; however, adjustments will be made for students with previous training and/or ability to advance. We will use our knowledge and experience to place your child in classes that will provide the best possible training.

Dress Code
Students are required to wear the appropriate clothing and footwear. Please view the Dress Code icon on this web site for appropriate dance wear and colors.

•Hair must be worn in a bun for all ballet classes. All other classes have hair pulled away from face.  Exceptions are made for students with short hair.
• A cover-up and street shoes must be worn when entering and leaving the school.
• Please put your child’s name on clothing and shoes.
• Please arrive on time to insure proper warm-up and to prevent interrupting the class once it has begun.

Missed Classes
Classes missed for any reason (ie: sickness, inclement weather, etc.) may be made up. We strongly encourage students to make up missed classes. To get the most from your dance training, we ask that you make up missed classes within one month of the time you were absent.

The Recital
The Academy of Ballet’s recital at the end of the season offers students a chance to perform on stage, complete with many elements found in a professional production: lighting, backdrops, music, and costumes.
